Karl Marx's Grave, the Wall of the Communards and other Revolutionary Tourist Photos
A comrade of mine recently returned from a voyage to the other side of the Atlantic. He returned with pictures documenting some of his revolutionary tourist adventures, and thankfully allowed Left Spot to share some of the photos from his trip. These pictures seemed like a nice way to follow up on my earlier post, A Visit to U.S. Communist and Anarchist Leaders from the Past. Enjoy the photos!
I may as well start with the best first. Here is a picture of Karl Marx's grave.

And here are a couple closeups of Marx's famous sayings. First, "Workers of all lands, unite!"

And then the famous 11th thesis, "The philosophers have only interpreted the world in various ways. The point, however, is to change it."

And here is a plaque of the Marxes:

Here is a picture of the Karl Marx shelf at the British Museum, where Marx Marx did much of the research and writing of Capital:

Now we jump over to Paris! Here is a picture in front of the Wall of the Communards at the Père Lachaise cemetery. 147 defenders of the Paris Commune were shot and thrown in an open trench at the foot of this wall.

Here is a plaque on the Wall of the Communards:

Here are some faces of the Communards on the wall:

Here is the July Column, which according to Wikipedia:
is a monument to the Revolution of 1830. It stands in the center of the Place de la Bastille, in Paris. The column is engraved in gold with the names of Parisians who died during the revolution. The gold-covered statue at the top is called the Génie de la Liberté

Here is the grave of Louis Blanc, a French socialist & 1848 revolutionary leader, who coined the phrase "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need":

Here is a Spanish Civil War monument at Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris:

And, finally here is a model of the monument to the Third International. This model of the monument is in Bookmarks, the bookstore of the UK SWP (International Socialists).

Anyone else have some revolutionary monuments / cemetary images or stories to share? Leave links or info in the comments.
